Loft Orbital raises $170M Series C to scale operations

Loft Orbital, a leading space infrastructure company, has raised $170 million in a Series C funding round co-led by Tikehau Capital and Axial Partners. Other investors, including Bpifrance, Foundation Capital, Temasek, and Uncork Capital, also participated. This latest funding brings the company’s total capital raised to approximately $330 million since its inception in 2017, positioning it to scale operations and innovate space-based solutions.

Simplifying Satellite Missions

Loft Orbital specializes in delivering rapid and reliable satellite missions through standardized, modular solutions. Instead of designing bespoke satellites for every mission, the company leverages its hardware and software platforms, Hub and Cockpit, to adapt its existing infrastructure for various customer needs. This streamlined approach prioritizes speed to orbit, schedule predictability, and reliability, enabling clients to focus on their missions rather than satellite development.

The company has logged over $500 million in lifetime bookings, serving high-profile clients such as NASA, Microsoft, BAE Systems, the U.S. Space Force, and EarthDaily. Loft has launched five satellites across multiple missions and aims to rapidly increase its launch cadence over the next two years.

Scaling Operations to Meet Demand

With the new capital, Loft Orbital plans to scale its satellite launch operations, aiming for more than ten launches annually by 2025. Its growing manifest includes major satellite constellations for the U.S. Space Development Agency and EarthDaily, as well as several rideshare programs. The company has also expanded its operational capabilities with a flagship Integration and Test Center in Golden, Colorado, where it maintains mission-ready satellites.

Loft’s innovative approach extends beyond deployment. By equipping satellites with advanced compute capabilities such as GPUs and FPGAs, Loft supports AI-powered applications directly in orbit. This enables real-time insights and monitoring, transforming how satellite data is utilized. The company’s YAM-6 satellite is already running AI-based virtual missions for partners like Microsoft, NTT, and Agenium.

Building the Future of Space Infrastructure

Loft Orbital sees its growth in two key phases:

  1. Scaling Rapid Deployment (Horizon 1): Focused on expanding its core mission deployment business and meeting the demands of a growing customer base.

  2. Unlocking Real-Time Insights (Horizon 2): Developing satellites equipped with advanced AI and connectivity capabilities to enable real-time decision-making from space.

Loft’s commitment to innovation, reliability, and scalability is reshaping the space infrastructure market. With the Series C funding, the company is well-positioned to meet the surging global demand for space-based solutions while paving the way for AI-driven insights from orbit.
